Immerse yourself in early American coinage with this 1803 Draped Large Cent! Minted from 1793 to 1814, Draped Large Cents were the first one-cent coins produced by the United States Mint. They were nicknamed "Large Cents" due to their substantial size compared to later pennies.

This 1803 Draped Large Cent features an obverse (heads) design showcasing Lady Liberty draped in a toga, facing rightward. The word "LIBERTY" arches above her head, and the date "1803" rests below. The reverse (tails) depicts a wreath encircling the denomination "ONE CENT," with the inscription "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" surrounding it. Below the wreath, the fraction "1/100" signifies the coin's value relative to a dollar.

While many Draped Large Cents were circulated heavily, they hold historical significance as the foundation of American one-cent coinage. Owning an 1803 Draped Large Cent connects you to the very beginning of U.S. small cent production.
